Cross Country & Winter Hiking

Cross-country skiing – experience nature and sports!
Also cross-country skiers do not lose out with us…
The Ganghofer high altitude cross-country ski run invites you to a fantastic tour through the snowy landscape at an altitude of 1,500 m. It is 10 km long and is suitable for the ambitious cross-country skier. Entrance is at the Alpenglühn mountain guest house.
From Lake Igel there is a 15 km long unprepared natural cross-country ski run through the Gais Valley up to the other side of the Wetterstein massif to Leutasch. From there you get back to Ehrwald by public transport or taxi.

Winter hiking
The Ehrwald Alm is not only a target for all skiers and boarders, but winter hikers are also most welcome with us.

Winter trails

1. For the trail from the base station of the 8-seater cable railway to the Ehrwald Alm it takes about 1 hour walking time. The trail constantly rises – you accomplish 400 metres of altitude. If this is too much for you, you can go up with the Ehrwald Alm Railway and simply walk the stretch down again.

2. A further winter hike on the Ehrwald Alm runs directly beside the “Ganghofer high altitude cross-country ski run“ up to the Talblick. You should plan 2 – 2.5 hours for going there and back (going up and down with the cable railway). Please note: after a fall of new snow, the path is often closed due to the risk of avalanches!
